Style Session — Chic Workwear

There’s nothing I dislike more than stuffy workwear. The matching pantsuits, the bland work heels — it makes me cringe! My theory is, just because you’re at work doesn’t mean you have to dress like you’re going to a funeral — there are plenty of options that are professional yet chic! Whether your office is ultra-formal, business casual, or anything goes I’ve got a solution for your workwear blues! Keep reading for my picks.

Ultra-Formal

Though my office isn’t big on the formal-wear, there are times (read: client meetings) when it’s more appropriate to dress up. For those occasions I opt for my favorite J.Crew skinnies and black silk Theory top (you literally can’t go wrong with Theory). Black on black is fool-proof.

Business Casual

Skip the stuffy-factor and bring more trendy elements into the mix. Again, I wouldn’t be able to survive without my J.Crew skinnies but this time I would pair it with a non-black silk blouse. I find that adding pops of different colors to an outfit tends to bring down the formal-factor.

Anything Goes

I’d categorize POPSUGAR’s dress code as pretty much anything goes. It’s got the Goldilocks syndrome going on where you’ll see some dressed to the 9s, some dressed by the trends, and even a few in workout clothes — I like to hover somewhere in the middle with a good pair of jeans and trendy top of some sort. I’m also loving the chunky knit sweater below — I mean September is just around the corner!

Until next time.
