Fresh Decor for Spring

Spring has most definitely sprung and I’m dreaming about breathing a bit of life into my home. I’m thinking pops of color, refreshing my pillows, and updating my art game. Lucky for me, my favorite home decor site, Lulu & Georgia, is having a major — seriously major — pop-up shop sale now through April 22. I’m talking up to 80% off the prettiest pieces you ever did see. From pastel rugs that somehow don’t feel childish, to of-the-moment furniture, and timely decor, Lulu & Georgia pretty much has everything.

As could be expected, I’ve already gone H-A-M and picked up a pink and cream chevron rug, three prints (London, NY, and Rome), and three pillows for my bedroom. I can’t wait for my goodies to arrive! Keep reading for a few of my favorite Lulu & Georgia picks plus what I’m crushing on this Spring.

Color Refresh

You can bring color into your home in so many different ways, the key is don’t constrain yourself! It can be in the shape of a new coffee table book in an eye-catching pink, or a new record player in cherry red, or a pretty pastel rug — play around with it and have some fun!

4 Tips For The Perfect Gallery Wall

I’ve been wanting to put together a gallery wall in my living room, pretty much since I moved in 2 years ago. Over the years, I’ve had various iterations on my idea, but I think I’ve finally landed on my plan of attack: my dad came up with the idea to make it a roving gallery of my photography and since I’ve been jumping back into that hobby now seems like the perfect time to get started on completing the beast. With that said, I want to make sure the wall is inspiriting and don’t want it to be all photography, so I’m planning on mixing in a few other mediums — like typography, illustration, and etc — to keep it interesting. Read on for my tips on creating the perfect gallery wall.

Tip 1: Make It Personal

The best part of a gallery wall is it’s ability to awaken memories and transport you back to the good times. I often find that when people sign their life away to interior designers they end up with beautiful, but sterile spaces, so make sure to infuse your life into the finished product.

Ideas: Framed ticket stubs from a memorable date // Black and white family photos // Travel map from vacation

Tip 2: Keep It Interesting

Don’t pigeon-hole yourself! The beauty of a gallery wall is having a mish-mosh of pictures that doesn’t look too put together. The finished product will become a true representation of who you are and the spirit of your home.

Tip 3: Keep It Balanced

It’s important to not go too heavy on any one aspect of the wall, so make sure you have a well rounded collection of images in a variety of styles really make the wall pop.

Tip 4: Don’t Be Afraid to Get Kitchy

Because everything needs a little dose of kitch. Personally, I think the unexpected piece really makes the collection pop, so don’t be gun-shy and just have a little fun!

Design on my Mind – Bedroom Makeover

I’ve lived in my current place for almost two years now — it’s crazy how time flies — and have been wanting to re-do my bedroom pretty much since I moved in. The previous owners did some serious renovations and decided that dark brown built-in side tables and modern light fixtures — like the kind you’d see in a cheap restaurant trying to be current — were a good idea. I’ve finally decided it’s time to take on the beast.

So here’s what I have in mind. I’m looking to create a space that’s luxe (without having to live on Top Ramen for the next month), comfortable, but not overly girlie. Like I’ve mentioned before, I’m all about mixing and matching design styles to keep everything looking fresh, modern, and inviting. Keep reading for my current inspiration and let me know what you think in the comments!
